North Cove yacht harbor

At the southern edge of the plaza is a more intimate park, in direct contrast to the civic scale and atmosphere of the northern part. This relaxing space has benches and tables, which line an oval lawn - perfect for quiet sitting and relaxation.

The design of the World Financial Plaza is also broken down into three levels. The upper level, at the foot of the buildings, is canopied by double rows of trees, and is used for outside dining. The lower level is used for pedestrian traffic and recreation. Between the two levels is a transition area of sculptural concrete seating, steps and fountains. This transitional level physically separates the upper and lower levels, while visually tying them together. The end result is a fluid space that satisfies the diverse needs of its users.

"Structure and open space are designed as
a single composition and experience."

-M. Paul Friedberg
