Please note: Walks/Runs through Battery Park City typically go through space that is under the Authority of Brookfield Properties that is, the "Brookfield Place Lower Plaza" which roughly is parallel to the eastern side of the North Marina. Permit Applicants are advised to contact Grace Lee at grace.lee@brookfield.com for permission as well. Although the names are similar, Historic Battery Park is part of the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation system and not affiliated with Battery Park City. Major construction is taking place in Historic Battery Park this year. Organizations accustomed to using location there walks and runs should consider location other than Battery City in the interim as its smaller size may not be sufficient or available by large scale events. BATTERY PARK CITY PERMIT APPLICATIONS
There's a 90 day process for special events applications and 30 days for all other applications. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a permit will be granted. General Requirement: Liability Insurance is required for all groups of 20+ as follows:(Birthdays parties, picnics, walks, runs, volley ball, wedding ceremonies, wedding photography, special events, memorials). This requirement also applies to photography/still photography, videos, professional or commercial filming, student filming, construction work, parking in the amount of $1,000,000 as follows. Battery Park City Authority must be named as the "holder" and the BPC Parks Conservancy, City & State of New York must be named as additional insured's. No exceptions. NYC Public schools requirement:There's a six (6) week process for all public schools application. All schools are required to provide an "Indemnity" letter from the NYC Department of Education indemnifying the Battery Park City Authority, BPC Parks Conservancy, City & State of New York from any injury caused due to negligence. This letter is usually requested by the school's principal and/or coordinator, and should include the name of the school and the event date. Private schools & Non-Profit Organization requirement:
Liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 is required as follows.
